WE GET IT—we're all busy, and there's not much time to make a list, let alone tackle new years resolutions. That's why we've come up with some small changes you can make to your life that will ensure success in the health & fitness department of your 2016 life. Whether you're already active and eat healthy or are just getting started, these tips will keep you going strong for the next 365 days. Let's do this!
No matter how good your intentions are for eating right, if you tend to skip breakfast, you're gonna go into cookie monster mode later in the day. But if you start with a healthy breakfast that has protein, good carbs and fiber, you'll feel energized and will have set yourself up for a day of good decisions. This Acai Bowl recipe takes all but 5 minutes to make (and eat!), and it's got everything you need from a healthy breakfast.
HAVE A GYM PLAN
There are going to be plenty of times during the year that your life will challenge your gym routine. Have a plan for getting in and out quickly, with a focus on your sweat sesh, rather than the post-workout beauty routine. These tips will have you looking fresh in 15 minutes flat—No shower necessary!
TRY SELTZER WITH BITTERS
Come this time of year, most of us are champagne-logged from all of the holiday cocktail parties. But if you're looking to cut back for 2016, try this—Next time you're thinking about the second or third glass of wine when you're out, ask for seltzer water with bitters and a fun fruity garnish. It's a great way to liven up plain old water, and still looks (and tastes) like a cocktail. For more tips on how to cut back on drinking without sacrificing your social life, click here.
DEVELOP A ROUTINE
Make a routine for yourself to create good, healthy habits. This will form consistency in your schedule and provide you with something that motivates you to get into a healthy rhythm. For example, Soul Cycle fitness guru Roxie Jones drinks two full glasses of water with a probiotic followed by a coffee about 30 minutes later. This one sounds counterintuitive, but if you're totally depriving yourself of the good stuff, you'll have a tendency to overindulge at some point. Instead, allow yourself a healthy dessert at least once a week. Our recipe for 3-Ingredient Coconut Breeze Popsicles (pictured below) is a great option, as well as our Fruit Parfaits with Vegan Whipped Cream.
RESET WITH A CLEANSE
If you're finding it hard to kick the unhealthy eating habits of the holidays, try resetting your body with a 1 or 3 Day Cleanse. And if you're one of those people that needs something to chew on, try a Juice Until Dinner cleanse, where you juice during the day and have a healthy meal in the evening. Once you complete the cleanse, your body will have detoxed all of those bad habits and your snack attacks will be tamed.
